Lifestyle: March Discovery

In case you missed it, check out our last Discovery.

Welcome back to Discovery,

Since our last post a lot has happened; The Grammys, Paul McCartney teaming up with hip-hop? Nate Ruess of FUN came out of hiding with a new single “Nothing Without Love”. And Drake dropped a surprise album, or wait it’s a mixtape… that looks and sounds a lot like an album. I have to admit, “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” was a perfect album title for the stunt he pulled on a quiet Thursday night. And Jack White put on one hell of a show in Las Vegas, a town he rarely visits. With Spring and festival season right around the corner; Brace yourself for an all thrills no fills month of music.

New Music:

Lately we’ve been keeping our eye on the producers rather than the artist. Behind every star is a source of light. We mentioned Jack U earlier which is a collaboration between Skrillex and Diplo. Both respected artists and producers. Jai Wolf and Vanic are two producers that are pushing music to new heights with mastery in future bass production.

American Aquarium out of Raleigh, North Carolina released a new full-length album titled “Wolves”. Everybody from The Wall Street Journal to Rollingstone is chiming in on the up-and-comers. Here’s a review from Paste Magazine.

Our good friends in Almost Normal released a video for their ground-breaking new single “Oblivion”. It is simply breath-taking. And it’s the song I heard of theirs that signaled that this wasn’t your average band. This duo has depth beyond measure.

In addition to our March playlist, TɅJ produced three new mixes; “Cloud City”, “Lost” produced by Auram, and “Eastcoast” co-produced by Auram. These can be found on www.souncloud.com/ole-mason-jar.

Fashion Trends:

Spring is here and so is warmer weather. This spring we are really into linen, unstructured sport coats and softer / more colorful hues (see our previous post on spring color trends). Stand out by mixing and matching your basic suit pieces such as a grey jacket with navy trousers, and vice verse. Linen sport coats (either solid or window paned), are great for spring because they are lightweight and breathable, yet have a great texture that will make any outfit stand out. To go for a more casual and relaxed, yet put together look, go with an unstructured jacket. Shirt wise, three shirts that will fit the bill this spring are our Brick Oxford, Blue Oxford and Grey Gingham. These soft and colorful oxfords that are incredibly versatile for layering under any sport coat you go with.

Concert Update:

When you live in a city like Las Vegas you’re bound to get a visitor or two, or ten. Since I’m never really in “vacation mode” I’ll let them tag along to some shows if that happens to be the case. First up was a show with Billy Idol. He looked old, sounded amazing. It was a picture perfect rock & roll show. Later on that night I got a message from some friends driving in from Utah. My night was supposed to end after Billy Idol, but we ended up at XS inside the Wynn to see Diplo perform. Luckily some friends of mine where socializing behind the DJ booth as Diplo was performing, so we had a pretty grand few of the entire show from the DJ’s perspective. That doesn’t happen often, but Diplo is a pretty “up for whatever” guy.

South by Southwest kicked off earlier this month, but as said before, when Festival season hits in April, we’re in for a ride.

Until next time,
